History
Sree Devi Kumari Women’s College, founded in 1965, is run by the Kanyakumari District Temple in Suchindrum, and is funded by the HR & CE Department of the Tamil Nadu government. The college, which is named after Kanyakumari’s virgin goddess, was established to provide university-mandated education as well as to develop ethical and cultural values in students.The college is located near Kuzhithurai, 32 kilometers from Nagercoil, the district headquarters, and 35 kilometers from Trivandrum, the state capital of Kerala.
It was first associated with Madras University, then with Madurai Kamaraj University, and finally with Manonmanium Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli.SDKWC began its educational journey in 1965 with a noble mission to the women of the Kuzhithurai neighborhood in a pious and serene atmosphere of competence, empathy, and devotion. It educates the community about the issues of contemporary sociocultural, political, and technical developments by providing appropriate education.

The goal has always been to instill a hunger for knowledge in students and provide them with the tools they need to live a happy and productive life. With this purpose in mind, all teaching faculty participate actively in the curriculum and are encouraged to strive for excellence in their specialties. Encouragement and a variety of possibilities are provided in order to bring out their hidden abilities. For the purpose of achieving the aim, classroom lectures, counseling sessions, seminars, guest presentations, study tours, library facilities, co-curricular, extra-curricular, extension activities, sports, value-added courses, and other activities are planned.
As a non-minority institution operated by Hindus, the college has stood for highlighting the ethical aspects of Hindu religion and culture through encouraging morality and peaceful coexistence among students since its founding. Admission is based on merit and follows government guidelines, regardless of caste, creed, or religion.The Hindu Religious Charitable Endowment Department of the Tamil Nadu government oversees the college, which is managed by the management of Kanyakumari District Temples in Suchindrum.
